Conferencia.io has it’s roots in something called WPArmchair, which was a hosted experiment to showcase social media for WordCamps. Quite a number of WordCamps took advantage of WPArmchair, and you can read WPTavern’s cover of WPArmchair here.

Conferencia was built to showcase the power of BuddyPress at WordCamp US in December 2015. You can see my talk mentioning it here on wordpress.tv. But Conferencia wasn’t just meant to be a demo – instead the intent was for it to be an operational social network and notification service, to be officially launched later in 2016.

I want to thank those that already have given Conferencia a great start with your helpful feedback.

The ultimate goal of conferencia.io is provide basic free services to those who frequent conferences as either attendees or speakers. But that won’t be all. There’s more to come. Can’t wait to share more plans and advances as we move forward.

Currently this site is a beta and not intended for the public yet. If you have questions, please reach out to me. You can also follow our official Twitter account.
